How to Sell on Faire: A Complete Guide for Wholesale Brands

Getting approved on Faire is the easy part. This guide covers what a brand actually needs before launch — assortment, pricing architecture, listing standards and fulfilment — so the first buyers convert instead of browsing.

01What Faire actually is, from a brand's side

Faire is a wholesale marketplace where independent retailers discover and order from brands. For a brand, that means two distinct jobs: being found inside a marketplace search environment, and being convincing to a professional buyer who is deciding whether your product earns shelf space it currently gives to someone else.

Both jobs are commercial rather than creative. A retailer is not buying a mood; they are buying sell-through. The brands that scale on Faire are the ones that make that calculation easy.

02Before you apply: the four things to settle

Applications get accepted or rejected on how established and wholesale-ready a brand looks. More importantly, launching before these are settled produces traffic you cannot convert.

  • Pricing architecture — a wholesale price that leaves the retailer a workable margin at your suggested retail price, and still leaves you a margin after marketplace commission and fulfilment.
  • A merchandised range — a small number of clear hero products with logical add-ons, not your full catalogue dumped in.
  • Photography standards — clean product-on-white for specification clarity, plus lifestyle imagery that shows the product in a retail or in-use context.
  • Fulfilment reality — a lead time you can hold when order volume triples, and a packing standard that survives that volume.

03Setting up the storefront so buyers can appraise you quickly

Buyers triage storefronts in seconds. Your header, brand statement and first product row decide whether they keep scrolling. Write the brand statement in a buyer's language: what category you are in, which retail customer this sells to, and the commercial reason to stock it.

Put the numbers where they can be seen — wholesale price, suggested retail, case pack, minimum order, lead time and restock cadence. Every question a buyer has to hunt for is a chance to leave.

04Listings: titles, attributes and specification depth

Faire's internal search is a marketplace search engine, not Google. Titles carry heavy weight, categories and attributes determine whether you appear in filtered browsing at all, and descriptions supply the semantic context that connects your product to how retailers phrase their needs.

Write titles the way a buyer searches, not the way your internal catalogue names things. Complete every attribute field — materials, dimensions, scent or flavour, care, origin. Remove near-duplicate listings that split relevance between themselves for the same query.

05Understanding the cost of selling on Faire

Faire takes a commission on orders and applies different terms to brand-referred versus marketplace-acquired accounts, and current rates should always be read from Faire's own brand documentation rather than a third-party summary. What matters strategically is that your wholesale price must absorb the highest commission you will ever pay on that product and still work.

Brands that set wholesale price first and check the arithmetic later end up choosing between unprofitable orders and a price rise that damages existing accounts. Do the arithmetic before launch, at the least favourable commission scenario.

06The first ninety days: what to actually watch

Three signals tell you which constraint is binding. Low unique visits with healthy conversion is a discoverability problem — titles, attributes, category coverage. Healthy visits with low conversion is a storefront and listing problem — clarity, imagery, margin legibility. Strong first orders with weak reorders is an assortment or fulfilment problem.

Diagnosing which of the three is actually limiting you prevents months spent optimising the wrong thing. If you want that read done on your own storefront, the free Faire audit covers exactly this diagnosis.
